<aside> ❓ **What is this?

cs-sop.org is a platform intended to help CS PhD applicants.** It hosts a database of example statements of purpose (SoP) shared by previous applicants to Computer Science PhD programs.

Below are three views of the database: two views with applicants organized by application years or their subfields, and another spreadsheet-like view. You can click into each person’s card to check their statements and additional advice if provided (with a πŸ“—Β ****icon). You can also create filters or sort the database as needed.

If you are applying and feel that your profile looks different than those shown here, please do not be discouraged! Successful applicants come from many different backgrounds, and this pool of statements may not be fully representative of that diversity. Please take these statements with a grain of salt. Having a non-traditional background, which may be underrepresented in this database, can often be a unique strength in the application process. And if you are a previous applicant with a background underrepresented in this database, we particularly welcome you to submit your statement!
